FALL TOURNEY PREVIEW: Men's Tennis at UCF Fall Sizzler

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's tennis starts off one of its busiest falls to date this weekend in Lake Nona, Fla., as the Ospreys compete in the UCF Fall Sizzler.

The Ospreys will be sending four of its student-athletes from the fall roster. Returners Matt Carroll, Bruno Vietri and Rodrigo Crespo will be making the trip, along with newcomer Spencer Dorosheff as he makes his UNF debut.

UNF will be competing against six other programs across four singles draws and two doubles draws. Singles matches are slated to begin at 8 a.m., with doubles getting underway around 1 p.m. There will be no live scoring available during the tournament.

Forecasting the Fall
North Florida has seven different tournaments on its schedule for the fall, with all but the ITA All-American Championships being set for the southeast region.

Insight on the Ospreys
UNF's fall 2022 roster features eight Ospreys, with half of the squad heading to Lake Nona, Fla. Carroll returns after an all-conference caliber season that saw him go 19-11 in singles play and 15-12 in doubles.

Vietri was in the mix during his first semester with the Ospreys last spring. The lefty out of Argentina transferred in from Division II Cameron University after the fall 2021 semester, collecting a 5-4 singles mark.

Crespo earned his first-ever ASUN Player of the Week award Feb. 22, 2022. Crespo earned double-digit singles wins last year and was phenomenal in doubles, going 16-10.

Dorosheff is the lone freshman on the team, coming to North Florida from nearby High Springs, Fla. Dorosheff attended Bucholz HS where he was an all-area honoree and the Gainesville Sun Player of the Year.
