Former ASUN Defensive Player of the Year Continues Pro Career Overseas

NETANYA, Israel - Former North Florida men's basketball post player and multi-all-league honoree, Wajid Aminu, continues his professional career after signing with Elitzur Ironi Netanya of Israel.

Aminu has already played three seasons overseas since finishing up his UNF career after the 2019-20 season. Aminu most recently played with Lavrio of Greece after averaging double-digit points with Rapla of Estonia in 2020-21. Netanya is based out of Netanya, Israel and competes in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.

The 6-7 forward had a decorated UNF career that included 2018-19 ASUN Defensive Player of the Year and 2016-17 ASUN Freshman of the Year accolades. A three-time ASUN All-Academic honoree, Aminu also earned College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA) All-District laurels.

Able to put the ball in the hoop and keep it out of the rim, Aminu is the lone Osprey men's basketball player in the 1,000-point, 500-rebound and 200-block club.
