JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's soccer announces its full 14-match slate for the 2022 season. There will be five matches, four of which are against conference opponents, played at Hodges Stadium, along with two preseason friendlies against Daytona State and Furman.
The Ospreys will open up their regular season on Thursday, Aug. 25, at home against Georgia State and complete the regular season by hosting the River City Rumble match against Jacksonville on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
The majority of the 2022 schedule is formatted for Saturday night games with an occasional midweek match on Tuesday evening. The only matches that won't fall on those days are the first two games against Georgia State and UCF, as well as a Friday game against Liberty.
"Our 2022 fall schedule is a very competitive and strong schedule with many regional opponents and a tough conference schedule. Our group looks forward to the challenge."
-- Head Coach Derek Marinatos
Following home friendlies against Daytona State and Furman, UNF jumps into its regular season with Georgia State in their home opener, as well as against UCF on the road just four days later. UNF starts the year against the Panthers for a second straight season after beating them on the road, 3-1, in 2021.
Just over a week after those pair of games, the Ospreys will hit the road again to head down to Miami and play Florida International on Tuesday, Sept. 6. FlU is another non-conference opponent that the team faced last year, as they played to a 1-1 draw.
A pair of conference matches will be played before UNF takes on two more opponents from outside the ASUN. They will travel to play against Florida Atlantic on Tuesday, Sept. 20, then travel again four days later to play Mercer on Saturday, Sept. 24.
After a month of playing conference opponents exclusively, UNF plays in its final non-conference match of the regular season against College of Charleston on Tuesday, Oct. 25. It will also be the last road game for the Ospreys before they play back-to-back home ASUN matches to end the season.
The Ospreys begin their conference games with matches against Central Arkansas on Saturday, Sept. 10 and Stetson a week later, which will come after the first three non-conference games of the season. The opening ASUN match against UCA will also be their third consecutive away game of that stretch, as both UCF and FIU are both on the road.
After another pair of non-conference games are played on the road, UNF will continue to stay on the road for their third and fourth consecutive matches against Queens and FGCU the first two Saturday's of October. The Ospreys play against Queens, the newest member of the ASUN, for the first time in their D-I era.
North Florida competes in their second home conference matchup and their 10th game overall when they play host to Bellarmine on Saturday, Oct. 15. They will then travel up north again to face off against Lipscomb in their fifth straight weekend game without a midweek interruption.
The Ospreys settle down for their last two ASUN games of the regular season at home when they play Liberty on Friday, Oct. 28, and Jacksonville on Tuesday, Nov. 1. It will be the first and only time that UNF will have back-to-back home games during their slate.
