Arends Earns Spot on All-Academic Team
ATLANTA - After putting together one of the most successful regular seasons in D-I program history, a trio of North Florida softball student-athletes received four combined conference accolades.
Morgan Clausen and Shannon Glover highlight the group after earning ASUN First Team All-Conference honors. It is the first time since 2018 that the Ospreys have two or more players make the first team for All-Conference.
Halle Arends was also picked to the Second Team All-Conference, while also being selected to the All-Academic team. This makes it the ninth consecutive season that a UNF player has earned an all-academic selection.
This is the first time for all three players that they have made an ASUN All-Conference team in their careers. They all have previously been selected to the All-Freshmen Team, with Arends and Glover being on the team last season, while Clausen was a selection back in 2019.
Senior; Arvada, Colo.
Morgan Clausen is selected to the ASUN All-Conference First Team for the first time in her career. She is the first pitcher for the Ospreys to make the first team since Kaylie Wallace in 2013.
The Arvada, Colo., native pitched 48.0 innings with a 1.46 ERA and 52 strikeouts in conference play. She earned a 5-1 record in the ASUN with 15 appearances, including six games started and two complete games.
In overall games this season, she tossed 102.2 innings with a 1.30 ERA and 103 total strikeouts. She notched a 12-4 record overall with 28 appearances, including 17 games started, seven complete games, and six saves.
Clausen finished the regular season with the lead in the conference for both best ERA (1.30) and most saves (6), while also holding opposing batters in the conference to a .200 batting average and overall opponents to a .209 batting average. She only allowed 38 hits (.221) with runners on base, 43 hits (.200) with the bases empty, and 23 hits (.180) with two outs.
She received the ASUN Pitcher of the Week award twice after dominant weekends in the River City Leadoff and the Central Arkansas series. She recorded seven games this season with at least seven strikeouts while allowing one run or less.
One of the best games of her career was when she threw a complete-game shutout against Jacksonville State with 15 total strikeouts, which was one shy of the program D-I record. She also had another complete-game against Liberty with one run allowed and seven strikeouts.
Clausen was also a major contributor on pitching staff that recorded a program D-I record streak of 56.0 consecutive scoreless innings pitched, as well as help maintain a top-five position in the NCAA for team ERA and total shutouts.
Junior; Oviedo, Fla.
Shannon Glover joins Clausen as a selection to the First Team All-Conference after being picked to the All-Freshmen Team last season. She is the first Osprey to jump from ASUN All-Freshmen to First Team in consecutive seasons since Navia Penrod in 2016-17.
The Oviedo, Fla., native batted .364 (28-for-77) in 24 starts during conference play with 28 hits, 16 RBI, 17 runs and five home runs, while also having 47 total bases in the ASUN with a 1.008 OPS, .610 SLG% and .398 OB%.
In overall play, she started all 54 total games and batted .345 (58-for-168), along with 58 hits, 37 RBI, 35 runs scored and nine home runs overall. She was one of three Ospreys, joining Paige Pfent and Kayla Harper, to start in every game this year.
Glover had 15 total multi-hit games and 12 total multi-RBI games overall, as well as a streak of reaching base in 12 straight games earlier this season. She also went 36-for-91 (.395) with runners on base, 27-for-63 (.429) with runners in scoring position, 20-for-63 (.317) with two outs, and 4-for-4 (1.000) with bases loaded.
In the conference, she ranked third for hits with 58 total through the regular season, as well as seventh in home runs with nine total and ninth in batting average with .345. She also recorded a hit in 19 of her 24 ASUN starts, including eight multi-hit games and one multi-homer game.
She notched four games overall with three hits more with her best performance being a 4-for-4 game against Georgia Southern, where she had three RBI, three runs scored and was a double away from the cycle.
Glover was a key factor in leading the team to a program D-I records of 13 straight wins and three straight games of scoring in the double-digits against Jacksonville in the River City Rumble.
Junior; Phoenix, Ariz.
Halle Arends makes her way to both Second Team All-ASUN and the ASUNÂ All-Academic Team after being selected to the ASUN All-Freshmen Team just a year ago. It is the seventh consecutive season that an UNF player has made both an All-Conference team and the All-Academic team.

In overall play, she tossed 145.0 innings with a 1.79 ERA and 163 strikeouts overall. She ended up with a 19-5 record overall with 31 appearances, including 21 games started, eight complete games and a save.
She held opposing batters in the conference to a .227 batting average and overall opponents to a .188 batting average. In overall play, she only allowed 47 hits (.215) with runners on base, 51 hits (.168) with the bases empty, and 29 hits (.169) with two outs.
Arends ended the season with the lead in the conference for most total wins (19) and most total strikeouts (163), while also having the second-best ERA (1.79) behind teammate Morgan Clausen.Â
She won ASUN Pitcher of the Week twice after grabbing a pair of wins against both Michigan State and FGCU, as well as her midweek no-hitter against Tennessee State. She also recorded five conference games this season with at least five strikeouts while allowing one run or less.
Some of her best performances this year was when she threw six hitless innings in a win against Michigan State, a complete-game no-hitter against Tennessee State, and a one-hit eight-inning performance with 13 strikeouts against Georgia Southern.Â
Arends, along with Clausen, was also a major contributor on pitching staff that recorded a program D-I record streak of 56.0 consecutive scoreless innings pitched, as well as helping maintain a top-five position in the NCAA for team ERA and total shutouts.
