JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The North Florida track and field teams saw success on the second day of action, as
Kaley Petrosky placed third in the women's high jump for the second consecutive year at the ASUN Outdoor Championship at the Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium on Friday, May 13.
The senior from Middleburg, Fla., took full advantage of the last ASUN Championship meet of her career with a personal-best mark of 1.71m. She jumped between the marks of 1.66-1.69m four times this outdoor season, but broke through in the conference meet for a place on the podium.
Robert Pedroza also had a great day for the Ospreys after finishing first overall in the preliminary races for the 800m with a lifetime best mark to qualify for the finals on Saturday.
Timothy Doyle also made the 800m finals, as he will also be looking to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary meet on Saturday.
IN THE FIELD
- Petrosky hit the best mark of her career in the women's high jump at 1.71m to place third overall among of field of 13 athletes.
- This is the second consecutive year that Petrosky has medaled in the high jump at the ASUN Championship, as she tied for third in the 2021 event.
- Izabelle Hays made her debut jump in the ASUN Championship with a mark of 1.61m that got her inside the top six spots.
ON THE TRACK
Men's Races
- Pedroza ran a personal-best time of 1:49.39 in the 800m preliminary to be the top runner overall for the trial race.
- Doyle also qualified for the final 800m race on Saturday with his time of 1:51.31, while Ladarius Tellis recorded a new personal-best time of 1:51.36 inside the top 10.
- Gavin O'Brien shaved time off his lifetime best mark to grab fourth while clocking 9:02.14 in the 3000m steeplechase, which would have bested the old record time in an ASUN Championship meet.
- Onix Ortiz Vazquez completed the 3000mS with O'Brien after recording a personal-best of 9:21.55 to finish eighth overall.
- Jordan Travieso recorded a time of 50.91 in his 400m trial run that was within a second of his season-best time to place fifth in his heat and 15th overall.
Women's Races
- Mia McLain ran well in the 3000m steeplechase to place seventh overall with a time of 11:01.94.
- Camryn Cooney joined McLain in the 3000mS finishing her race with a lifetime best mark of 11:28.92 at 14th overall.
- Emma Jane Schlageter finished fifth in her heat and 11th overall for her 800m trial run at 2:13.68, which matched her personal-best for this season.

The UNF track and field teams will wrap up their final day of competition at the ASUN Outdoor Championships on Saturday afternoon. Events for the Ospreys include the 400m relay, 1500m final, 800m final, 400m hurdles final, 5000m race, and the 1600m relay.
