Ospreys Meet Familiar Foe FGCU at Swanson Stadium

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball enters back into ASUN play with a three-game series at power-hitting FGCU Thursday, April 14-Saturday, April 16. 

This three-game set marks the midway point in the ASUN season, with 15 more conference games remaining following Saturday.

UNF starting pitcher Max McKinley is one strikeout away from reaching 100 for his career ... McKinley is three strikeouts away from setting a personal season-high mark for punchouts ... the righty has one of the best strikeout-to-walk ratios in the league and the nation, having fanned 43 while permitting just nine free passes ... McKinley is a two-time ASUN Pitcher of the Week honoree ... he was last recognized March 21, 2022.

Aggressive on the Bases
UNF has swiped 49 bases this season, led by Isaiah Byars who has stolen 11 in 13 attempts ... UNF has been far more aggressive this season after stealing just 33 as a squad all of last year ... the Ospreys are nearing their total from 2019 when North Florida stole 57 bags ... that team had great base stealers in Tanner Murphy and Wes Weeks on the squad.

Go-To Guy in Relief
Righty Jason Gonzalez is 2nd in the ASUN for wins with four ... all four of Gonzalez's wins and appearances have come in relief ... the righty leads the team in appearances with 13 ... the Miami, Fla., native tallied wins at USF and against JU last week ... Gonzalez is holding hitters to .244 at the dish and has fanned 33 batters in 31.2 innings.

Cade Westbrook extended his on-base streak to 21 games with another walk at South Carolina ... the Ospreys are balanced offensively, having five different players with at least four hits and six different players with at least a pair of home runs ... lefty Peter Holden has had his strikeout pitch working in his last two starts ... the southpaw has fanned 17 in 13.2 innings over his last two starts.
