Men's Golf Holds Share of Lead After First Day of The Hayt

Higgins Leads Field, Gabrelcik Tied for Second
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - North Florida men's golf shares the top spot on the leaderboard with Charlotte at 4-under after two rounds of play in North Florida's home tournament, The Hayt.
Robbie Higgins holds the sole lead among all 90 players after carding a combined 5-under through 36 holes, as he matched his career-best score of 18 holes in the first round at 67. Nick Gabrelcik is not far behind the lead with a 4-under score that puts him tied for second.
It would be the first team win of the season for the Ospreys if they can hold onto the lead after Monday's final round. It would also be Higgins' first medalist crown of his career, as well as his first-ever top-five finish and third-career top-10 finish.

- Higgins' strong start of a 5-under 67 first round gave him the momentum to finish Sunday with nine birdies and an eagle to sit atop the leaderboard.
- Gabrelcik is one stroke back of the lead after scoring 11 birdies through two rounds, which leads the field.
- He also is tied for the lead on average par-five score (4.00, 8-under), along with being tied for fourth in average par-three score (3.00, E).
- Davis Lee is tied for a share of the lead in average par-four score (3.95, 1-under), as he finished his day tied for 17th at 3-over 147.
- Cody Carroll scored consistently with a pair of 2-over 74's in each round to sit at 23rd, while Jason Duff wraps up the Osprey group with a score of 8-over 152.
- Brandon Mancheno lead the four unattached Osprey golfers tied for 23rd overall at 4-over, while Cooper Smith carded 13-over, Grant Sutliff carded 14-over, and Lance Yates carded 21-over.
- Mancheno and Higgins were two of 16 players to score an eagle on the first day of competition.
- The Ospreys were the only team to have four players ranked within the top 25 spots and one of two teams with their top two players sitting in the top five.
- UNF showed their home-course advantage with the top average par-four (4.12, 12-over) and par-five (4.50, 20-under) scores through two rounds, as well as the most birdies in the tournament so far with 39 total.
