Lajoie Second in High Jump, Tellis Third in 800m
ORLANDO, Fla. - North Florida track and field closes out a successful weekend of competition after a pair of top-three finishes in the men's high jump and the 800m race on the second day of the Knights Invite on Saturday afternoon.
This adds on to the five first-place finishes set on the first day, as well as the many collegiate debuts, personal-best marks, and school record times at both the UCF and NC State meets. Aidan O'Gorman also set the school record on Friday night for the fastest 10,000m time, which was 10-seconds faster than teammate Nathan Jubran's mark that was set last season.
"At Raleigh, Aidan [O'Gorman] crushed it breaking the school record. He executed the perfect race. He ran in the front and pushed the pace to help secure the fast time. Jake [Turner] also ran a nice personal-best with an impressive time competing very well. Nathan [Jubran], who was a little questionable coming off of strep throat, decided to pull out at four miles. He can take a couple weeks to get recovered and then race anther 10k at the Lee Invitational. It was a great trip yielding two great performances."
UCF was also a strong meet for the Ospreys. Seth [Martinez] had a really nice PR winning the 5000m. [Tim] Doyle continues to win and did a great job as well. Gavin [O'Brien] ran a big PR winning the steeplechase. He has been really working on the steeple and I think he'll continue to make strides. Kaley [Petrosky] has another strong high jump and she's primed for a PR in the next meet. Erica [Fisher] had a big PR in winning the 5000m. Mia [McLain] has been working on her hurdles and really had a move season opener for the win as well. I'm really proud of how well they competed this weekend."
