Women’s Tennis Wins Seventh-Straight Home ASUN Regular Season Match
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis (7-8, 1-1 ASUN) got in the conference win column with a strong showing against Kennesaw State (11-3, 1-2 ASUN) Friday, March 25. UNF took doubles and cruised through singles, winning 6-1 to pick up the program's seventh-straight regular season ASUN home match.
How it Happened
Slots one and two took care of business quickly, taking the doubles point. No. 15 Kit Gulihur and Ana Paula Melilo won 6-3 before Isabel Oliveira and Anslee Long clinched with a 6-4 win.
UNF used three straight-sets wins at slots one, three and five respectively to clinch the match 4-0. Gulihur won, 6-2, 6-3, Davis won minutes later at 6-0, 6-3 and Long grinded out a 7-5, 6-3 match to clinch things.
All of the east-end courts were finished, with courts two, four and six remaining. KSU's Taylor Dean earned the Owls only point of the afternoon, winning 2-6, 6-4 and 6-3. Oliveira and Nash added to the total score and their personal win column with a pair of three-set wins.
