Bond Posts Sixth Double-Double of the Season, Broermann Notches 13 Points

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Jazz Bond posted her sixth double-double of the year to go with a five-block night but ASUN West Division-leading Jacksonville State used a big run in the third quarter to hold off the Ospreys, 66-58, Thursday, Feb. 3 at JSU.

Bond tallied 17 points, 11 boards, five blocks and a steal on 6-for-11 shooting and Emma Broermann scored 13 and reeled in five boards. Despite coming in with a 70.8 percent mark from the line as a team, UNF (10-11, 3-6 ASUN) shot 10-for-17 from the free throw line and just 2-for-16 from deep.

Jacksonville State (16-5, 7-2 ASUN) only shot 60 percent from the line and 30 percent from deep, but a hot stretch in the third quarter and a nine-rebound advantage on the offensive glass helped the hosts to the win.

Third Quarter: The Gamecocks opened the half on a 10-0 run to take a 40-27 lead … UNF was able to stem the tied, going on a 11-5 clip while holding Jacksonville State without a field goal for a stretch of over four minutes during the latter half of the frame … the Gamecocks tallied a bucket with three seconds on the clock to take a 47-38 lead into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter: Jazz Bond hit a pair of free throws and Ally Knights nailed a three-pointer for a 5-0 UNF run, cutting the deficit to four … the Gamecocks responded with their own long ball as both teams traded buckets for the next few minutes of play, keeping UNF within a pair of field goals … Jacksonville State hit a three-pointer to extend its lead to 62-62 with 2:04 to go, forcing a UNF timeout … Jaida Bond tallied a quick layup out of the timeout … the Gamecocks held on down the stretch despite going cold from the line.
