LYNCHBURG, Va. - Nathan Jubran took another stand on the podium after making an incredible comeback in the men's 3000m race to take top honors on the second day of the ASUN Indoor Championship meet.

Jubran entered the last lap of the race in fifth and turned on the burners to overtake the leader and finish with a time of 8:09.68 on Saturday afternoon. He set an ASUN Indoor Championship record in the 3000m coming off of short rest from Friday's 5000m race, in which he also turned in a first-place finish.

IN THE FIELD

  • Kaley Petrosky performed well in the women's high jump once again with her mark of 1.61m that tied for sixth among a field of 18 jumpers.
  • Izabelle Hays also competed in the high jump for the first time in an ASUN Championship meet with her mark of 1.56m.

ON THE TRACK

  • Aidan O'Gorman had a great race as well finishing in seventh place with a time of 8:12.51 that would have also beaten the old ASUN record for the 3000m race.

  • Mia McLain, Billie Castillo, Hannah Martin, and Leah Pelham all ran in the 3000m as well, with McLain and Castillo both posting top 25 times.

PIGG'S POINTS

"I thought within [the 3000m] race we had a lot of guys run well. All the guys did a great job. The women's 3k was similar in regard to people running as fast as they've ever ran in their life. Robert [Pedroza] reached his lifetime best in the mile and he competed well. Also having Aiden [Arnold] score as freshman was really good. In the 800m, [Tim] Doyle is starting to feel better and get the bounce back in his stride and he's looking forward to competing in outdoors.

Kaley [Petrosky] in the high jump has been consistent, even with the coaching change. Izabelle did well clearing a couple bars in the second indoor meet of her life. Kaley jumped clear up to 1.63m and she was really close to moving up to the next bar. We look forward to moving onto the outdoor season." -- head coach Jeff Pigg
