Men's Basketball and Men's Golf Compete in Ninth Edition of Birdies & Buckets

Cody Carroll and Carter Hendricksen Win Contest

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's basketball and men's golf competed in their yearly tradition with the playing of the ninth annual John Hayt Birdies-N-Buckets Shootout held at the UNF Fieldhouse and Hayt Golf Learning Center Friday, Oct. 7.

The event tasks the two teams to compete in their respective crafts as 13 duos composed of one student-athlete from each program aim to post the lowest score on the 18-hole skills challenge.

The front nine was held at the UNF Fieldhouse, where the contestants had to make three shots from nine different locations on the court. The duos took alternating shots, with the total number of attempts taken to convert three field goals at each location determining the score for that "hole".

The "back nine", held at the Hayt Golf Learning Center, featured a mix of short game and putting challenges. The two-man teams worked to post the fewest shots possible over the nine challenges.

The pairing of men's golf's, Cody Carroll, and men's basketball's, Carter Hendricksen, took home the crown, finishing with a day-best score of 61. Together they also tallied a 37 in the basketball portion of the day, good for the lowest total on the front nine.

Oscar Berry of men's basketball, alongside Kaitlyn Schroeder, the daughter of head men's golf coach and amateur golf phenom, posted a 21, good for the best "back nine" score.
