Women's Tennis Historic Season Ends at No. 11 Georgia Tech

ATLANTA - In North Florida's first-ever trip to the second round of NCAA Tournament, the Ospreys were swept, 4-0, by 11th nationally ranked Georgia Tech.Â
Lucia Montano and Constanza Gorches fell first in doubles, dropping court one, 6-1, to No. 3 Victoria Flores and Kenya Jones. Doubles partners Catherine Gulihur and Valentina Mariotto were edged, 6-4, in the two slot to No. 16 Gia Cohen and Ava Hrastar.
In the three slot, Annabelle Davis and Summer Yardley were close to winning their match, but went unfinished, 5-1. After doubles Georgia Tech made quick work claiming courts six, one and two in singles.Â
The Yellow Jackets'Â Mahak Jain downed Mariotto in straight sets 6-2, 6-1, i the six slot. Redshirt senior Montano battled on court one against No. 5 Kenya Jones, but fell 6-3, 6-4.
Junior transfer Gulihur suffered the Osprey's third and final loss in singles in the two slot. She dropped the decision 6-3, 6-2, marking just her fifth loss this season in singles.Â
In just her second season with North Florida, Head Coach Catherine Dunagan led the squad to a 18-8 overall finish and a 6-0 mark in ASUN play. The ASUN Coach of the Year became the first coach in program and conference history to lead a team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Dunagan looks to return six student-athletes for the 2021-22 season.Â
