JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -Â Timothy Doyle and Nathan Jubran closed out the 2021 season in the NCAA East Preliminary Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Visit Jax Track.
"Both of those guys had really good seasons," said Head Coach Jeff Pigg. "These guys' passion is contagious and has a positive effect in our program which has made for a good year all around."
Orlando, Fla., native Doyle clocked in a time of 1:49.85 in the men's 800m, placing 22nd. The junior was one hundredth of a second from qualifying for the National Championship in Eugene, Ore.Â
"Tim had a great year. He established himself in the 1500m with a very strong 3:42 and he really broke out with his school record of 1:47 in the 800m. He is learning so much about racing in elite, fast races and I know he has a great future."
Jubran covered the 10000m in 29:51.83, good for a 26th place finish. This marked the first time the Jacksonville, Fla., native competed for the NCAA Outdoor East Regional meet.Â
"Nathan's now ran sub 30:00 for the 10000m three times and that is something to be proud of. He was a NCAA qualifier in cross country and the ASUN champion. I'm proud of what he accomplished and look forward to what the future holds for him." Â
Three new facility records were set in the men's long jump, 1500m, and 10000m. Hofstra's Alex Masai broke the facility record in the 10000m by over 20 seconds with a time of 28:29.97.Â
Lydia van Dijk will represent North Florida tomorrow in the 1500m on the second day of the East Regional Meet.Â
