
Women's Tennis Sweeps Conference Postseason Awards

ATLANTA - The North Florida women's tennis team swept the ASUN All-Conference awards and placed three Ospreys on All-Conference teams announced by the conference office Thursday.Â
Lucia Montano was tabbed ASUN Player of the Year, Montano and partner Constanza Gorches were named ASUN Doubles Pair of the Year, Annabelle Davis earned ASUN Freshman of the Year and Head Coach Catherine Dunagan was tabbed ASUN Coach of the Year. Montano and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Catherine Gulihur were named All-ASUN First Team, while Davis earned spots on the All-ASUN Second Team and All-Freshman team.Â
Redshirt senior Montano started the 2021 season ranked No. 84 in ITA Preseason Singles Rankings. She finished the season with an overall record of 14-8 in No. 1 singles and was one of three Ospreys to go undefeated in ASUN singles. The Santa Cruz, Bolivia, native currently holds a seven-match winning streak and was named to the 2021 ASUN All-Tournament Team. She is a seven-time ASUN Player of the Week, earning two honors this season April 7 and February 3.
Montano and fellow redshirt senior Constanza Gorches finished the season 15-6 in doubles and went 5-0 in ASUN play. The ASUN Doubles Pair of the Year went 5-1 in No. 1 doubles and 10-5 in No. 2 doubles on the season.
Freshman Annabelle Davis capped off an impressive first year with the Ospreys, finishing the season 10-1 in singles and going undefeated in conference singles. The Somerset, England, native won singles matches in the five slot in the ASUN Semifinal and Final. She clinched the doubles point with partner Summer Yardley in doubles to help North Florida sweep Stetson in the ASUN Quarterfinal. Davis clinched the match for UNF in the squads first ASUN win against FGCU March 19. She was the only Osprey to win in singles against No. 16 UCF edging Marion Deloziere 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (11-9) in the six slot March 13.
Junior transfer Gulihur was tabbed ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the year, named 2021 ASUN Tournament Most Valuable Player and earned All-ASUN First Team honors. The Camp Pendleton, Calif., native finished the season 18-3 in singles, leading UNF in singles wins and joined Davis and Montano as one of three Ospreys to finish 6-0 in conference play.  She led the way in the two slot in singles with a 17-3 overall record with a 10 match win streak since April 22. In doubles, Gulihur went 12-2 with partner Ana Paula Melilo in the one slot and 3-0 in ASUN play. Ranked The pair were ranked 70th in ITA Doubles Rankings March 25.Â
Head Coach Catherine Dunagan led North Florida to 17-7 overall record and 6-0 conference record in her second season with the Ospreys. In the 2020 shortened season she guided UNF to a 10-1 start, only losing to No. 24 Florida. In the semifinal match against Lipscomb Dunagan earned her 100th win as a a Division I head coach, earning 27 wins in her first two seasons with the Ospreys. The Opelika, Ala., native led UNF to it's 11th-straight ASUN Semifinal and sixth-straight ASUN Title.Â
After earning its ninth ASUN Title in program history, North Florida earned an automatic bid to the NCAA DI Women's Tennis Tournament and awaits the NCAA Selection Show May 3.
