HOOP SCOOP: Ospreys visit Liberty for Weekend Set

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- After having a weekend off from competition due to COVID-19 protocols, the North Florida men's basketball team will make its February debut this weekend with a pair of contests at Liberty on Friday (6 p.m.) and Saturday (5 p.m.) 
 

PROBABLE OSPREY STARTERS

G - Jose Placer (14.7 PPG | 2.7 RPG | 3.7 APG)
G - Emmanuel Adedoyin (9.3 PPG | 2.4 RPG | 4.0 APG)
G - Carter Hendricksen (15.2 PPG | 5.2 RPG | 32 3PM)
F - Dorian James (9.0 PPG | 5.8 RPG | 1.9 APG)
F - Josh Endicott (9.8 PPG | 6.9 RPG | 1.1 APG)

 

HARDWOOD DRIBBLINGS

- North Florida, who led the nation for 3PM in 2020 and 2016, currently ranks 21st in the nation (2nd in the ASUN) with 182 treys
- Ospreys have connected on 10+ treys in a game 11 games this season (reached double-digits 13x last year)
- UNF is averaging 10.1 3PM/g which ranks 12th in the nation and tops the ASUN
- All 13 players that have played this season have attempted a trey with 11 different players making one
- Ospreys have won four of their last five games including a split with then ASUN leading North Alabama on Jan. 29-30

- In ASUN games, North Florida ranks second in scoring (72.0 PPG) and is tops in 3PT% (38.0) | Liberty is league's top defensive team allowing just 59.0 PPG and holds opponent's to conference best 30% from the arc

SCOUTING REPORT
- Liberty is 15-5 (6-2 ASUN) this season
- Flames have won four in a row and 7 of their last 8
- LU is 9-0 at home this year and currently own a 32-game home win streak (2nd longest in the nation)
- Liberty has made 201 three-pointers, ranking 6th in the nation
- Darius McGhee tops the LU scoring chart at 13.7 PPG followed closely by Chris Parker (10.4 PPG) and Elijah Cuffee (10.0 PPG)
- Head coach Ritchie McKay owns a 169-92 record in an 8-year two time stint at Liberty | He has a career mark of 334-250 in his 19th season

The Ospreys are currently scheduled to host ASUN leader and league newcomer Bellarmine for a pair of games at UNF Arena on Feb. 19 & 20. North Florida is set to close out the regular season at Stetson on Feb. 26-27.
