Jazz Bond Tied Personal and Program Record With 8 Blocks, Posts 30 Points and 9 Rebounds

MIAMI - Jazz Bond hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 52 seconds on the clock, although FIU (5-3) followed up with its own three as North Florida women's basketball (5-4) was clipped by the Panthers, 53-51, Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. Jazz Bond tied her own UNF single-game blocks record, swatting shots eight to go with 30 points and nine rebounds in a remarkable performance.

It's the 19th time in Jazz Bond's career she's blocked at least five shots, and the second time this year she's reached the 30-point benchmark.

First Quarter: A fast-paced first quarter that saw only two fouls and no team timeouts finished with the Panthers ahead, 14-11 … the Ospreys led for three and a half minutes in the first session, getting seven points from Jazz Bond … FIU's Kyla Nelson had eight.
Second Quarter: The second frame was a defensive struggle … FIU took a 22-21 lead into the half despite UNF outscoring FIU, 10-8 … Brit Gore made a pair of layups, Jazz Bond hit a three and Emma Broermann scored three points in the second quarter … Broermann went into the break with seven rebounds.
Third Quarter: Tied 24-24, FIU went on a 10-0 run to force UNF to take the first called timeout of the game … out of the huddle, Kaila Rougier made a driving layup and Jazz Bond hit a stepback jumper and converted the free throw on the and-one … the Ospreys put together a 9-0 run to get within one at 34-33, although FIU put up a 5-2 run to close the third.
Fourth Quarter: FIU opened up an eight point lead with 4:36 remaining in the game … North Florida slowly chipped away … Jazz Bond made back-to-back buckets to cut the deficit to 50-48 with 1:26 remaining … after notching her eighth block, Jazz Bond nailed a deep three with 55 seconds on the clock to put UNF ahead for the first time all half … FIU's Nelson made the eventual game-winning three pointer from the wing just seconds later … the Ospreys did get three more shots up, although the equalizer did not fall.
