Men's Soccer Blanks Lipscomb, 2-0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's soccer (3-5-1) scored two goals in the second half to seal their first ASUN victory of the season against Lipscomb (6-3-2), who was the second-ranked team in the conference.

- Both UNF and Lipscomb had a couple opportunities each to score in the first half, but none were able to reach the back of the net.
- Just three minutes into the second half, junior Bendeguz Burka put his head on the ball off a free kick from senior Giovanny Abreu to get it over the keeper's mitts and take the one-goal lead.
- The Bison tripled their shots attempts from the first half with nine total in the second half, but all their shots missed their mark.
- In the 80th minute, a ricocheted ball landed in front of senior Jovoney Brown and he was able to put it past the keeper to solidify the home victory.
- Goalkeeper Padraic Gilley had two huge saves in each half that resulted in the shutout performance against Lipscomb.

- North Florida's defense was out in full force tonight holding the highest scoring team in the conference to zero goals.
- Lipscomb held the shots advantage during the game, 12-9, but UNF had more shots on goal, 5-2, with two of them resulting in goals.
- Bendeguz Burka and Jovoney Brown both scored their second goals of the season, with this being Burka's first goal since playing Mercer and Brown's first goal since the season-opener at Georgia State.
- The Ospreys broke a four-game losing streak while picking up their first victory since Mercer on Sept. 3.
- UNF also takes the all-time series lead, 9-8-1, with the 2-0 win on Saturday night.
