Invite Features Doubles and Singles Play in Compass Format
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Next up on UNF women's tennis' fall schedule is the Georgia Southern Invite, featuring doubles and singles competition in a compass draw tournament format.Â
1) Rewind
The Ospreys opened the year at the Bedford Cup in Tampa, Fla., North Florida combined to pick up 11 victories between doubles and singles competition.Â
Freshmen Isabel Oliveira and Anslee Long earned their first collegiate experience, while Oliveira nabbed two singles wins on her first day of play. Oliviera was also awarded the Sarah Vande Berg Sportsmanship Award.
2) Fall Back
The fall season features five tournaments: Bedford Cup, ITA All-American Championships, Georgia Southern Invite, ITA Regionals and the UNF Fall Invitational.Â
North Florida's last time competing in the fall was in 2019.
3) Who Ya' Got?
North Florida brings four to Statesboro this weekend. Annabelle Davis, Anslee Long, Kendall Nash and Sean Lodzki will make the trip.
Kit Gulihur and Ana Paula Melilo are competing in the doubles main draw at the ITA All-American Championship in Charleston, S.C.
4) What's New?
UNF returns six to its 2021-22 roster, with two newcomers and first year assistant coach Anastasia Reimchen.Â
The Ospreys welcome Anslee Long out of St. Petersburg HS, while Isabel Oliveira comes from Brazil and joins UNF for her first year of competition. Oliveira was not able to join in Jacksonville last year due to travel restrictions.Â
Reimchen is in her first season in the Navy and Gray. Born in Germany, Reimchen moved to England where she grew up and eventually went on to play collegiately at the University of Iowa.Â
Following her time in Iowa City, Reimchen played in the ITF Pro Circuit, spending most of her time training in Boca Raton, Fla.
