
Melilo and Gulihur Defeat LSU Doubles Duo at ITA All-Americans

UNF Doubles Pair Reaches the Main Doubles Draw Round of 16
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Doubles pair Kit Gulihur and Ana Paula Melilo started their fall season off with a bang, defeating LSU's Taylor Bridges and Ena Babic, 8-1, in the opening round of the 2021 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's All-American Championships Doubles Main Draw Thursday, Oct. 7.
ROUND OF 32 MATCH | GULIHUR/MELILO V. BABIC/BRIDGES
Gulihur and Melilo dispatched the No. 51-ranked SEC duo, 8-1, in the round of 32, earning the Ospreys' first win at the ITA All-American Championships in the fall season.Â
The UNF duo earned a preseason ITA doubles ranking of 33, the highest ranking for a UNF duo in the program's division I history.Â
Gulihur and Melilo won 81 percent of first points, whereas Bridges and Babic were held to 41 percent. The Ospreys took home three break points to LSU's zero.

Gulihur and Melilo advanced to face North Carolina's No. 15-ranked doubles pair of Reilly Tran and Alle Sanford in the round of 16, falling 8-1 in the next round of play.Â
UNF women's tennis will continue fall play at the Georgia Southern Invite. Due to expected rain, play will not begin tomorrow but will commence Saturday, Oct. 9 through Sunday, Oct. 10.
The Ospreys had three aces, although UNC won 37 percent more of first points.
