Ospreys Go to Tallahassee Nov. 9
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida volleyball announces the addition of a road match at Florida State for Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. leading into UNF's final home stand of the regular season.
The 20-3 Ospreys are tied for the most wins in the nation and tout an RPI of 62 with six regular season matches remaining.
Florida State stands at 14-5 and 20th in the Oct. 25 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball RPI, while also receiving 12 votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll (AVCA).
"We see this as an excellent opportunity to test us right before the conference tournament against a quality non-conference opponent," head coach Kristen Wright said. "We also have a number of quality matches remaining on our front burner."
North Florida and FSU have only met once in series history, a match at Florida State in September of 2008.Â
It will be UNF's second match against an ACC foe this season after it took down Virginia Tech Sept. 3. North Florida has hosted Clemson and Wake Forest in each of the last two seasons.
"With both programs having a strong season and with a date open, we see it as a great opportunity to get on the court in advance of postseason play," Wright said. "We discussed this with our staff, administration and team and we have a unanimous desire to add the match."
Most immediately, UNF begins a four-match road stretch with a match at FGCU tomorrow and a Saturday night match at Stetson, Oct. 30.
