FORT MYERS, Fla. -- FGCU scored in the second minute and never let up on its lead as UNF women's soccer fell to the Eagles Sunday, Oct. 10, suffering its first true road-ASUN loss since October 17, 2019.

FGCU's Louise Lillback converted the hat trick for the hosts as the Ospreys concluded their four-match road swing, 2-1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

FGCU's Lillback gave FGCU the early lead with a goal in the second minute.
Both teams settled in, creating a fair amount of chances in the middle of the first session.
Mercedes Sapp made saves in the 11th and 18th minute, while Zara Siassi put up UNF's first shot on goal of the afternoon in the 21st minute. That shot came right after a preceding shot was blocked.
Despite UNF's added pressure on the offensive, FGCU was the one to get the next goal in the 40th minute off the foot of Lillback.
A quiet start to the second frame was interrupted by Lillback's third goal of the afternoon in the 59th.

QUICK KICKS

It was the first time UNF lost a true road-ASUN match since Oct. 17, 2019 at FGCU.
FGCU's tallies were the first goals allowed by UNF since Sept. 26 vs. UCA.
The Ospreys conclude their four-match road stint 2-1-1.
It was the third appearance of the season for freshman Sofia Miliancano, and second for freshman Sarah Barrentine.
UNF is 2-1 over the last three against FGCU.
The Ospreys played 23 different student-athletes.

"Disappointing performance from the opening whistle. Full credit to FGCU. Both teams needed to get something out of this match and they obviously understood that, and we did not. We had a poor week of training and it showed somewhat on Thursday and definitely showed today. We can make a lot of excuses of why we are in poor form at the moment or we can put our heads down and turn it around. We have dug ourselves a hole and we are the only ones that can dig ourselves out of it."
