Coffey Talk
"This NIC is a great meet to compete in at the end of the season," Coffey said. "The time standards were tougher than last year and it's a testament to our two qualifiers for earning Auto Cuts. Teams from around the country will be at this meet and it's great to have our athletes there representing UNF." Â
The National Invitational at Cleveland State
- All conference champions across Division I, both in relays and individuals, qualify for the National Invitational Championship. Swimmers can also qualify by recording a predetermined time.
- The NIC holds standard individual swimming events and relays as well as the 50-yard back, breast and butterfly, 100 IM and 1,000 free. Fans will be polled to choose the "Swimmers of the Meet" through social media.
- Those to finish in the top three of individual and relay events will be selected as award winners. The official hashtag to follow the event is #NICChamps.
- The NIC began in response to the fact that an increasing number of student-athletes did not have the chance to compete in a championship on the national stage.
