JACKSONVILLE -- North Florida head women's soccer coach Eric Faulconer announced the addition of incoming freshman Mikayla Bond to the 2020 recruiting class.
Bond is a midfielder from Delray Beach, Fla, that further strengthens an already strong incoming freshmen class.
Â
"We feel very fortunate to add a player of Mikayla's talent fairly late in the recruiting process," stated Faulconer. "She is someone we have been watching for quite some time. What immediately stands out is her high-level technical ability, as well as her advanced tactical knowledge of the game. She sees things that a lot of other player do not and has the ability to play the ball to match her outstanding vision. She provides us with another true number 10 on the roster, which are very hard to find."
Â
Bond plays her club soccer in the US Development Academy (DA) for Weston FC and Coach Mark Barnett. Prior to playing with Weston she played DA with South Florida Football Academy and ECNL with Boca United. She attends Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton, Fla.. During her youth career at the ECNL and DA level, Bond has been recognized by Top Drawer Soccer as a standout player on three occasions.
Â
"Mikayla is one of the most intelligent and unassuming soccer players that I have ever had the pleasure of coaching," stated Weston FC's Mark Barnett. "Along with her high soccer IQ, Mikayla is also a very technical and creative player. She has amazing vision of the field, which allows her to make fantastic passes from midfield, passes that many professional players would not have the vision nor the touch to see or complete. I am very confident that Mikayla will make an immediate impact at The University of North Florida both on and off the field as a student athlete."
The addition of Bond grows the 2020 incoming class for the Ospreys to eight newcomers. Find out more about the other newcomer signees follow the links below:
