Late Surge Helps Ospreys Stifle Flames

JACKSONVILLE - Behind double-doubles from seniors Adrienne Jackson and Janesha Green as well as a game-high 17 points from Jazz Bond, North Florida women's basketball took down Liberty, 65-50, Monday in front of 3,200 screaming elementary school students.
North Florida is now on a three-game win streak for just the second time since 2012-13. The Ospreys are 5-1 at home and have won seven of their last nine games.

Aided by back-to-back threes from Victoria Patrick, the Ospreys went on a 10-3 spurt to put North Florida (12-8, 5-2 ASUN) back out front by double digits where it remained for the rest of the game.
Turning Point
North Florida used an 18-4 run late in the third and extended it into the fourth to take its biggest lead of the game, 55-37, with 5:03 left in the game.Â

INSIDE THE GAME
- UNF used a 9-0 run to lead by the first media break in the opening frame. Liberty (11-9, 4-3 ASUN) was held to just two buckets in the first quarter, while UNF led 16-6.
- Liberty had an 11-6 run to close the gap to 22-17, but Jackson grabbed her 11th rebound of the game and went up the floor to hit a triple on the other side.
- At the end of two, North Florida owned a 28-19 lead after holding the Flames to just 28.8 percent shooting.
- Out of the half, Liberty whittled UNF's lead to 32-29 by the media timeout. The Ospreys extended their lead back to seven on a three-point play from Green, but a three on the other end from Emily Lytle made it 37-33 after three.
- UNF then stepped on the gas, extending its lead to 18 with 5:03 on the clock and it never looked back. UNF went 6-for-8 from the line down the stretch to seal the win.

- Jackson's 19 rebounds are the most since Keonna Farmer's 19 against NJIT in 2018. Jackson bested her previous career-high (18) set against FGCU.Â
- North Florida owned a 42-33 advantage off the glass, but Liberty took an 8-5 edge in second chance points as the teams tied with nine offensive boards each.
- All of the Ospreys' home wins have been by 15 or more points and Liberty has not won in UNF Arena.
- UNF is 7-0 this season when four players score in double figures.
- North Florida now has 17 double-doubles on the season and it is the fifth time this year with two players having one in the same game.
- The Ospreys matched its season-high 28 points scored in the final quarter.
- Liberty is the second opponent to score just six points in the opening frame and it is the third time this season that UNF was held to just nine points in the third quarter.
