Ospreys Win Fourth Straight

NEWARK, N.J. - Men's tennis adjusted to indoor play seamlessly Saturday, coasting past host NJIT, 6-1, to earn its first road triumph of the season March 30.

UNF (9-9, 2-1 ASUN) dropped only three sets all day to improve to 4-1 over its past five matches.

North Florida clinched doubles with wins at the second and third slot. Till Von Winning and Dominik Barton had a dominant, 6-1, showing and Jorge Nunez and Federico Nani clinched with a 6-3 victory.

Deshmukh tallied a pair of 6-1 sets and Nunez posted a 6-2, 6-1 triumph. Von Winning secured a victory in his first match at the two slot, playing there for the first time since February 10. Nani took things in straight sets, and Duarte hung on to win a marathon three-setter at the third spot. Charley Castaing was a 10-point three-set match away from giving UNF a 7-0 sweep, but NJIT's Pablo Arrutia won the decisive set, 13-10, at the six slot.

"I'm proud of the comprehensive win today. It's always tricky going up to NJIT and playing indoor tennis. It's much faster, but the boys adjusted quickly. We dominated doubles, which set the tone, and we were ready in the opening sets in singles to squash their hopes. Moving forward we can still get better at having that killer instinct, but overall it was a quality win. I'm looking forward to improving this week!" -- Head coach Matt Lucas

The Ospreys picked up their first road win of the year.
