
Swimming Sends Five to NIC in Cleveland

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida women's swimming concludes the 2018-19 campaign when it heads to Cleveland for the 2019 National Invitational Championship. The event will run from March 14-16 and will be hosted by Cleveland State University per the selection of the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The North Florida swim team advanced 15 swimmers to the finals on the last day of the CCSA Championships on Saturday. The Ospreys finished seventh at the championship meet, the best finish under head coach Ian Coffey.
Highlights from the final day included a sixth-place finish for the 400-yard Freestyle relay team and Anne Fletcher's appearance in the "A" finals in the 200-yard backstroke.

The CSCAA Invitational at Cleveland State
- All conference champions across Division I, both in relays and individuals, qualify for the National Invitational Championship. Swimmers can also qualify by recording a predetermined time.
- The NIC holds standard individual swimming events and relays as well as the 50-yard back, breast and butterfly, 100 IM and 1,000 free. Fans will be polled to choose the "Swimmers of the Meet" through social media.
- Those to finish in the top three of individual and relay events will be selected as award winners. The official hashtag to follow the event is #NICChamps.
- Teams sending swimmers include but are not limited to:
- Army, FIU, Campbell, San Diego, South Carolina, TCU, UNLV, Vanderbilt, Villanova and Navy.
History of the NIC
- The NIC began in response to the fact that an increasing number of student-athletes did not have the chance to compete in a championship on the national stage.
