Pigg's Points (Comments from Head Coach Jeff Pigg)
"I am very proud of how well we competed in the ASUN championships. We don't have a big roster but the guys we do have bring everything they've got to the meet. It was a close battle with Lipscomb for third and we knew going into the final five events that both teams had good competitors in them so it was exciting. They run a first class program and it was great to pull up even with them and tie for third in the final event of the day. We had a lot of lifetime and season bests and that is what we were hoping for headed into the championship meet."
"George Escobar had a strong day running a very good 400m and an hour later coming back and taking second in the 800m. He then ran a stellar leg on the silver medal 4x400m relay squad. George comes to practice everyday and does exactly what is asked of him by Coach Krupa. He is a very humble hard, working kid and it is great to see him be so successful."
"Noah Perkins ran a spectacular race in the 5000 meter to finish runner up. Liberty's All-American senior was able to pull slightly away with a mile to go and Noah couldn't close the gap, but he ran a great race. Â It was an indoor personal beat by 30 seconds. Noah is well prepared and on a mission to be the best he can be."Â Â
"Freshman Timothy Doyle placed 3rd in the Mile followed by Leo Queroy in 4th. We keep getting better and they are fully committed to being the best they can be."Â Â
"Freshman Nathan Jubran ran a tough race in the 5000m. He has battled a nagging knee injury for the past six weeks and I thought he really competed well in the race. He is a tough competitor and was not going to give up just because he missed training. He was able to make great decisions in a haze of exhaustion."
"We were four points out of third headed into the final event and the relay team came through with a great performance. Spencer Shaw ran a strong lead off followed by George Escobar putting the team in second place. Michael Alexander held the position with another strong leg and senior Chris Robin broght it home in a very exciting finish. Those guys rose up when we needed a great run."
