North Florida
- UNF is coming off its second-ever series victory against an SEC school after taking two-of-three from Missouri this past weekend.
- The Ospreys have four players hitting over .400 in the early going.
- North Florida overcame a 2-0 deficit with four runs in the seventh to take the rubber match against the Tigers Sunday, Feb. 17.
Weeks Showing No Weakness
- Redshirt-senior Wes Weeks started as hot as any Osprey has in school history, going 7-for-7 to start the season. His seven consecutive hits ties a UNF record and is the first time it has occurred since Travis Martin did so for the Ospreys in 2008. Weeks is the fourth player to record such a feat in school history. Weeks finished the weekend 9-for-13, hitting .692 with three RBI and a home run.
mc"K"inley
- Junior transfer Max McKinley took advantage of his first-career start as an Osprey, spinning seven innings of two-run ball while fanning eight to earn the win in UNF's 4-2 triumph against Missouri in the rubber match. The Santa Fe College transfer allowed only one earned run and needed only 86 pitches to get through seven innings. The Tallahassee, Fla., native garnered ASUN Pitcher of the Week honors for his performance, the first such award for the Ospreys since Brad Deppermann earned it May 14 of last season.
Just Going for a Walk
- Senior Chris Berry has been patient at the plate throughout his career. The Seminole, Fla., native has already walked four times this season, including walking three times in game two of the series against Missouri. Berry has 91 walks for his career, good for third all-time in UNF Division - I history.
No. 3 Florida
- Florida came into the season ranked No. 3 in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll, just behind conference foes Vanderbilt and LSU.
- The Gators swept their season-opening series against Long Beach State, giving them an opening-weekend sweep in five consecutive seasons.
- UF finished third in the nation a year ago after making the College World Series for the fourth consecutive season.
- Thus far the Gator bullpen has spun 10.2 scoreless frames. Six new faces have made appearances on the bump for Florida.
- Three true freshman appeared in UF's opening night lineup, the most during head coach Kevin O'Sullivan's 12-year tenure at Florida.
