TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The road trek continues for the North Florida men's basketball squad (7-5) on Tuesday night as the Ospreys visit No. 21 Florida State (8-2) for an in-state battle at the Tucker Center.
1. REWIND
North Florida picked up its first road victory of the season on Saturday afternoon with a 72-69 decision at Southern Miss | All five starters finished in double digits agains the Golden Eagles led by 14 points each from Garrett Sams and JT Escobar | As a team, UNF made 15 three-pointers and handed out 18 assists on 24 made field goals | Carter Hendricksen posted his second straight double-double tallying 13 points and 10 rebounds
2. #BIRDSofTREY
With 149 3PM this season, UNF leads the nation from beyond the arc | The Ospreys have posted double digit 3PM in 10 of 12 games this season and are currently averaging 12.4 threes per game | Against Trinity Baptist (Nov. 18) UNF connected on a program record 21 three-pointers | Nine different players have made a trey this season for North Florida while all 12 have attempted a three-pointer
3. ROAD WARRIORS
The Ospreys are in the midst of a seven consecutive road contests with UNF's next home appearance coming on Jan. 9 versus in-state rival FGCU | After an early four-game home stand, North Florida's schedule included a two-month span with 11 of 12 games away from Jacksonville
4. RANKED FOES
North Florida will be facing a Top 25 ranked foe for the 25th time in the program's DI era and the second of the season | UNF is still in search of its first win against a ranked opponent | This marks the second time the Ospreys will square off with a ranked Seminoles squad
5. LAST TIME WE MET
UNF and FSU faced off last December with the Noles posting a 95-81 victory | JT Escobar was a perfect 6-of-6 from the 3-point arc in his homecoming, finishing with a team high 27 point effort | Trip Day had 10 points and 6 boards while Noah Horchler chipped in 13 pts | FSU saw five players reach double figures including four starters | The Seminoles led 46-39 at the half
SCOUTING FLORIDA STATE
- Florida State owns an 8-2 overall record this season including a 1-1 mark in ACC play
- Noles dropped their season opener then rattled off seven straight wins before falling at Indiana | FSU topped Clemson (72-53) in their last outing on Dec. 8
- FSU is undefeated (5-0) at home this year
- Devin Vassell (12.4 PPG) and Trent Forrest (12.1 PPG) are the squad's top scorers
