Softball Deepens Roster with Six Early Signees

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida softball adds six during the early signing period as announced by head coach Marcie Higgs.

Name: Abi Annett
Hometown: Lee, Fla.
High School: Madison County Cowgirls
Position: 3B
Club: Gold Coast Hurricanes 18U National
Club Coach: Marty Cooper
Notes: Four-year letterwinner for the Cowgirls, starting every game and hitting in position three… selected for the USA Junior Olympic (19U) selection trial games as a 16-year old… one of 42 girls from across the United States who was chosen to compete for a spot on the national Junior Olympic team… ranked as the Top 50 Class of 2020 HS Recruits from the state of Florida (Softball America)… Named All-Big Bend First Team Selection during the 2019 season… helped Madison County to just its second appearance at the state championship… led the Cowgirls in hits, home runs, slugging percentage, OPS%, and RBI as a junior… competed at the National (Gold Level) in Club Ball for the last two seasons… currently playing for Florida's premiere powerhouse team, The Gold Coast Hurricanes 18U National, coached by Marty Cooper… off the field she is a four-year Beta Club member and will graduate with her high school and associate arts degree

Head coach Marcie Higgs: Abi will add a lot of athleticism to our roster. She is a very versatile player and will give us an offensive weapon in the middle of the lineup.

Head coach Marcie Higgs: Miranda has a big bat and the ability to play several positions in the infield and outfield. Her versatility will allow her to compete for a spot at multiple positions.

Notes: A three-time All-Big Bend first team honoree … earned 3A All-State first team honors in 2017… she also earned all-conference honors for soccer… helped the Lions to the 2017 State semifinals… hitting .467 with nine home runs.

Head coach Marcie Higgs: Regan is a speedy outfielder with a strong arm. Her consistency at the plate will allow her to compete for a starting spot as a freshman.

Head coach Marcie Higgs: Gianna is an outfielder, who's bat will make her a presence in our lineup. Her ability and work ethic will instantly make our whole team better.

Notes: Named a two-time NFCA High School East Region Second Team selection, earned MSDA SEC First Team All-Conference American Division as a junior and sophomore… named to the MSDA All-Non Public Second Team… as a freshman, picked to the MSDA SEC Second Team All-Conference American Division… helped her team to three straight MSDA Conference championships… Mount Saint Dominic earned state runner-up finishes in 2018 and 2019… the Lions also won the sectional championships in those two seasons.

Head coach Marcie Higgs: Alli throws a variety of pitches and will be able to keep hitters off balance with her command of the zone. She will be an instant impact to our pitching staff.

Notes: A two-time selection to the News-Press All-Area second team … two-time pick for the 4A FHSSA All-State second team … helped her team to three straight District championships and three regional runner-up finishes …. batting .362 for her career.

Head coach Marcie Higgs: Makenzie is a catcher, whose arm will shut down the run game of our opponents. She also can play the corners and will give us depth at both positions.
