HOW IT HAPPENED
- The match was primarily contested in the middle third of the field as the squads took turns controlling possession
- North Florida was able to get more shot attempts off in the first 45, holding a 5-2 advantage | Both shot attempts from Lipscomb were on goal
- Opsreys had the best scoring chance in the opening stanza when Carmel Oliveira took a pass from Thais Reiss that slipped thru the Bisons back line in the 30th minute | Oliveira's strong shot was punched away over the crossbar by Lipscomb keeper Melissa Gray
- UNF peppered the LU net with several shots early in the second period but were unable to get one in for the score
- With time running down in regulation, Lipscomb's Molly Grant tracked down a deflected pass and raced into the box, touching the ball past diving Osprey keeper Rhiannon Conelley and slipping her shot just inside the right post and out of the reach of the UNF defender on the lineÂ
- For the match, North Florida held an 11-6 edge in shot attempts including a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal | Leah Ferlin led UNF with four shots
QUICK KICKS
- Loss ended the Ospreys six-match undefeated streak and marked the squad's first ASUN loss
- Marked only the second match this season that UNF has been held off the scoreboard
- Four of North Florida's five ASUN matches have featured a final score of 1-0Â with today's match being the first loss
FAULCONERÂ TALES
"I am not sure I could ask for anything more from our team today. I told them before the game to leave it on the field and we did just that. I won't lie, this one stings. Last season we got played off the field by Lipscomb and today we went toe-to-toe with them. We were the better team on the day, but you have to score goals to win and we did not do so. We left too many good opportunities on the table and eventually good teams will take advantage of those missed chances. We have a lot of respect for Lipscomb and the program Coach O'Brien has built. We are a program on the rise. I think everyone sees that. We need to have a short memory with this one and get ready for the final three conference games starting with FGCU on Thursday. This league is wide open and we are right in the thick of it." - Head coach Eric Faulconer
