FULL SCHEDULE
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida women's soccer announces its 2018 schedule with a lineup that features nine games at Hodges Stadium.
Â
"We are coming off one of the best seasons in program history so we are really looking forward to the 2018 campaign," said head coach Robin Confer. "We had tremendous growth last fall with a very young team and we feel we are poised to continue that success this fall. We face both some familiar and new opponents in non-conference play, which should prepare us well for our ASUN schedule."
Â
After a pair of exhibition matches, the Ospreys open the 2018 slate with back-to-back road matches against College of Charleston (Aug. 17) and the Citadel (Aug. 19). UNF faced off with both teams last season, splitting the weekend with a loss at the Cougars before a home win against the Bulldogs.Â
Â
UNF closes the month of August at home against first-time opponents MTSU (Aug. 23) and UNC Asheville (Aug. 26), while looking to stay perfect against Winthrop (Aug. 31). The Ospreys grabbed a 1-0 OT win against the Eagles last season.
Â
Opening September at Hodges, Manhattan (Sept. 2) comes to town after finishing second in the MAAC last season. A pair of road games at Appalachian State (Sept. 6) and South Carolina State (Sept. 8) are on tap before Confer's squad returns home to play its final home non-conference contest against Webber International (Sept. 13). The Ospreys close out non-conference action against Wofford (Sept. 16). Wofford fell 1-0 when it visited Jacksonville in 2016.
Â
North Florida then turns its attention to ASUN play with four straight home games. Stetson (Sept. 21) and perennial power FGCU (Sept. 23) come to Hodges before the last two home matches against NJIT (Sept. 28) and Kennesaw State (Sept. 30).Â
Â
The Ospreys once again go across town to face River City rival Jacksonville (Oct. 6) where they beat the Dolphins for the first time since 2010 in double overtime in 2017. UNF then heads to Lipscomb who upset FGCU last season to claim the ASUN regular season title.
Â
UNF closes out the regular season with road matches against ASUN newcomers North Alabama (Oct. 14) and Liberty (Oct. 21)
Â
Prior to opening the regular season slate, the Ospreys host a pair of preseason exhibition matches against Florida National (Aug. 8) and UCF (Aug. 12). The Ospreys look to improve on their 9-6-2 mark – their best record since 2011 – during the 2018 campaign.
