German's Gem Leads Ospreys To 3-2 Win

Fort Myers, Fla. – The North Florida baseball team used a strong pitching performance from junior Frank German to help propel the Ospreys to a 3-2 victory over FGCU on Friday night at Swanson Stadium in ASUN play.Â
LEADING OFF
- German threw 8.2 innings as he picked up his sixth win of the season. German struck out eight, while allowing one earned run and for the second straight week matched a season-high with 116 pitches.Â
- With his eight strikeouts, German has now had at least seven strikeouts in his last nine starts.
- German with the win moves into a three-way tie for first in the D1 all-time record book for wins with 16. Â
- Chris Berry, Blake Voyles and Jay Prather led the Ospreys offense with two hits apiece, while Dalton Board, Tanner Murphy and Rey Gonzalez all got in the hit column as well.
- Gonzalez's leadoff homer in the fourth was the fourth lead off homer from an Osprey this season and the first since Voyles had one against Kennesaw State on April 14.
- Prather extended his reached base streak to a team-high 29 straight games, while Murphy and Berry got to 21 games in a row reaching base on Friday.Â
- Prather and Board both carry team-high 11 game hit streaks into Saturday's action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ospreys got on the board in the third with Murphy's RBI double to left center to score Berry and give UNF a 1-0 lead.
- In the fourth, Gonzalez led off the frame with his second homer of the season to make it 2-0 Ospreys.
- UNF added a run on an FGCUÂ wild pitch in the eighth to make it 3-0.
- The Eagles got on the board with a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth to make it 3-1 and that ended German's night.
- FGCUÂ added one more run to make it 3-2 and got the tying run to third base before Deppermann shut the door and gave the Ospreys a 3-2 win.Â
