Women's Golf Edges Delaware in Match Play Event

JACKSONVILLE - The North Florida and Delaware women's golf teams competed against each other in a Ryder Cup-style match play event on Wednesday and Thursday at a pair of local country clubs. The Ospreys earned a 6.5-5.5 victory in the friendly competition.
Wednesday's competition, held at Sawgrass Country Club, featured three pairs from each program battling for 9 holes of Four Ball play followed by a second 9 holes of Foursome play using a modified alternate shot format. The alternate format included both players for a team hitting a tee shot. Then, the players will swap shots with the A Player hitting Player B's ball, and vice versa. After the second shot has been played by both players, the team selects one ball to play and alternate shots from that point until the hole is completed by a holed putt or conceded hole.
On Thursday, the teams squared off in six singles matches over 18 holes at Marsh Landing Country Club.
