Melilo Advances to Finals at ITA Regionals

ATLANTA - Freshman Ana Paula Melilo had a successful day for women's tennis as she advanced to the final round of the singles consolation bracket at ITA Southeast Regionals on Sunday hosted by Georgia Tech.
Melilo started her day off with a victory against Lucia Marzal of Miami and made quick work of her in the first set, 6-1, before Marzal came back to battle. Melilo didn't let her come back though as she took the second set, 7-5.
"I am so proud of Ana and her hard work so far this fall," said head coach Mariana Cobra. "She is part of the future of the Osprey program and these battles prove that we have a lot to look forward to over the next four years."
In the semifinals, Melilo took #77 Morgan Coppoc (UGA) to three sets and came away with the victory. She will face #55 Ana Oparenovic from Florida State on Monday.
