Gorches Advances to Consolation Semifinals

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - North Florida junior Constanza Gorches advanced to the Singles Flight Consolation Semifinals after picking up two wins on the second day of the Bedford Cup at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Saturday.
She opened the day with doubles partner Ana Paula Melilo where they took down Ana Madcur and Daniella Roldan from Miami to advance to the semifinals. The pair battled against UCF, but ultimately fell 6-3.Â
In singles action, Melilo and Gorches both posted wins to advance to the consolation quarterfinals, but only Gorches got out unscathed. Melilo met with Madcur (Miami) again where the Hurricane grabbed the 6-2, 6-3 win. Gorches faced off with Florida A&M's Haleigh Porter where she came away with the victory to advance to play on Sunday.

Gorches now faces off with ASUN foe Julia Ascua from FGCU after doubles competition finishes in the morning on Sunday.
