The short story:Â Sophomore Travis Trace saw his opening round in the NCAA Championship at Rich Harvest Farms suspended after nine holes following several rain delays and darkness on Friday.
Â
FIRST TEE
- Travis Trace is the first UNF golfer and first golfer from the ASUNÂ to qualify for the NCAA Division I Championship as an individual
- Afternoon weather delays forced the suspension of Friday's first-round at the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships at Rich Harvest Farms. The two delays, totaling three hours and one minute, resulted in half the field being unable to complete their opening round.
- First-round play will resume on Saturday morning, May 27, at 6:30 a.m. CT, followed by second-round play beginning at 7:15 a.m.Â
INSIDE THE SCORECARD
- Trace opened his NCAA Championship debut with a birdie 3 on the first hole before recording back-to-back bogeys on the 3rd and 4th holes... He then settled down by making pars on four of his final five holes to reach the turn at 2-over 38.
- He currently ranks T-89th on the individual leaderboard
- Trace will return to the course to complete his opening round and then is scheduled to tee off in the second round at 9:27 a.m. CT (10:27 a.m. ET) from Hole 10.
SAY WHAT...
"Travis got off to a good start today and now will need to play 27 good holes tomorrow." -- Head Coach Scott Schroeder
UP NEXT
Trace will look to complete both his first and second rounds on Saturday before playing his third round on Sunday in hopes of being among the Top 9 individual golfers not on the Top 15 teams.
