HOW IT HAPPENED
- Patrick Ervin opened the game for North Florida with a single and moved to second on a single by Yahir Gurrola. Alex Merritt followed with an infield single to load the bases and Chris Berry posted an RBI single to right giving the Ospreys a 1-0 lead.
- Lipscomb answered with a pair of run the bottom half of the first to grab their first lead of the weekend. Michael Gigliotti got the Bisons started with a leadoff double and would score as Lee Solomon's bunt resulted in a throwing error for UNF allowing Gigliott to scurry home and Solomon to reach second. Solomon moved up a base after swiping third and crossed the plate for the second run thanks to a two-out RBI single by Hunter Hanks.
- LU added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth when Hanks connected for his second homerun of the weekend with two outs and a runner on base.
- North Florida responded with two runs in their next at-bat to trim the margin back to one run. Berry and Wesley Weeks tallied back-to-back singles in front of a two-out RBI double by Christian Diaz drove both players home.
- UNF evened the game at 4-4 with another solo run in the top of the fifth. Ervin led off with a single and reached second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Merritt laced a double down the left field line allowing Ervin to cross the plate.
- In the top of the 7th, the Ospreys used a trio of extra base knocks to score three runs and break the tie. Chris Thibideau smashed his team-tying 6th homerun of the year, scoring two runs as Ervin walked in the at-bat before his blast. Gurrola delivered his ASUN leading 12th double and scored the third run of the frame when Berry followed with an RBI double.
- The Bisons got one back in the bottom of the inning using three consecutive two-out singles to manufacture a run
- UNF reliever Anthony would hold LU scoreless over the final two innings with Matthew Naylor closing the door on the win by tallying a strikeout in the bottom of the 9th with the winning run at the plate.
