The Short Story:Â The North Florida men's track and field team had a strong showing Saturday at the outdoor season opener, UCF Black & Gold Challenge. The Ospreys dominated the 1500m and had several other impressive outings in the season debut.

THE FINISH LINE
- The Ospreys had the top five finishers in the 1500m and placed seven runners in the Top 10. Brad Hort led the charge picking up the event time with a PR of 3:56. Fynn Timm (3:57), Noah Perkins (3:58), Sem Sultanov (4:01) and Michael Damato (4:03) rounded out the group of five at the front of the pack. Freshman Rob Leverone finished 8th while Anderson Bobo made his collegiate track debut in 10th.
- Nick Morken finished runner-up to pace a group of six UNF competitors in the 800m. Morken finished in a time of 1:50 with Chris Robin running a PR (1:53.27) and Rayford James (1:53.56) joining him in the Top 10
- Senior sprinter Desmond Robb got his final outdoor campaign started with a pair of solid performances in the 200m (22.36 / 10th) and 400m (49.77 / 10th). Freshman George Escobar made his collegiate debut in the 400m

ON THE FIELD
- After sitting out last outdoor season, senior pole vaulter Shelton McLean made an impressive return for the Ospreys, winning the event with a PR vault of 4.95m (16-02.75)
- Junior standout Bobby Harris got his outdoor campaign started with a third-place finish in the high jump posting a mark of 2.08m (6-09.75)
QUOTABLE
"We competed very well. The last couple of weeks we worked on recovery from the indoor season and went back to work. This meet was a good start to getting back into the routine of racing. They were a little tired from the workload of the past couple weeks. The performances provide us great optimism as we we look forward to the upcoming meets on the schedule." -- Head coach Jeff Pigg
