Ospreys Ranked Among Top 10 after Opening Day at Kiawah Island Classic

The short story:Â Against a field of 43 squads, the largest field in a single collegiate golf tournament, the North Florida women's golf team wrapped up opening round action in a tie for 9th following a team score of 300 (+12). UNF played their opening round at Osprey Point Golf Club.

FIRST TEE
- Freshman Sydney Shrader led the way for UNF posting the first under par round of her career with a 1-under 71
- Seniors Megan Wilshire (74) and Nathalie Nygren (75) concluded their first rounds ranked T34th and T53rd, respectively
- Courtney Cobb (80) and Teresa Conroy (81) rounded out the Osprey lineup for the event
- Fellow freshman Sydney Merchant, who is playing in the event as an individual, collected her best collegiate round of 76 to sit in a tie for 56th

*The 2017 edition of the Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic has expanded to 43 teams in this year's field and will be played for the third time in its history at Osprey Point at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, S.C. Two courses are used for the three-day, 54-hole tournament including Oak Point. After 36 holes of play, the Top 22 teams will play for the championship at Osprey Point during the final round, while teams 23-43 will play for a flight championship at Oak Point.
