TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The North Florida cross country teams head to the University of Alabama for Friday's Crimson Classic to be run at the Harry Pritchett Running Park, the host site for the NCAA South Regional this season. The event field features several regionally ranked teams and ASUN rivals.
The Osprey men, currently ranked 10th in the USTFCCCA South Region poll,  have claimed team titles in each of their first two meets of the season including Florida's Mt. Dew Invitational on Sept. 23. UNF has consistently seen their scoring runners finish among the Top 15. North Florida earned a fifth place finish in their last appearance at the Crimson Classic in 2015. The men's 8k race is set to start at 9 a.m. (CT)
The UNF women's team has tallied back-to-back runner-up team finishes in their season. Senior Eden Meyer has earned individual titles in each of the first two events, highlighted by a victory at the competitive Mt. Dew Invitational. The Ospreys finished 9th in their last appearance at the Crimson Classic. The women's 6k race follows the men's race and will start at 9:45 a.m. (CT)
Thoughts from Coach Pigg...
"Coming off of three very productive weeks of training, both teams are looking forward to racing again. We are getting close to being at full strength as we near the championship phase of our season. We have seen a lot of progress and everyone is excited to see how we stack up against some very good teams at the University of Alabama. Coach Dan Waters and the Alabama staff run such a great meet and it is always a pleasure to compete at Bama. The course will serve as the 2017 South Regional championship  site so it also provides us an opportunity to preview the regional course as well."Â
