Romagosa, Dempsey Earn ASUN Weekly Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida Men's Cross Country junior Alejandro Romagosa and freshman Oliver Dempsey earned ASUN weekly honors on Monday.
Romagosa earned ASUN Runner of the Week, becoming the first Osprey to earn the honor since Robert Pedroza on Oct. 4, 2023, while Dempsey was tabbed ASUN Freshman of the Week, becoming the ninth Osprey to earn the honor. It marked the first weekly honors for North Florida this season.
Romagosa clocked a time of 24:47.5 to finish third in the men's 8K at the Queens City Invite on Sept. 11. Romagosa's time was just 0.7 seconds off his personal-best 8K mark of 24:46.8. The Miami, Fla., native led three Ospreys inside the top 10, six inside the top 25 and nine inside the top 50 of the individual standings.
North Florida totaled 44 points to earn a runner-up team finish in the 25-team field, finishing just three points behind first-place Charlotte. The Ospreys also finished ahead of ASUN opponent and meet host Queens (N.C.). Romagosa recorded the top individual finish among ASUN runners in the field, while North Florida posted the best team finish among conference programs.
Dempsey earned ASUN Freshman of the Week honors after clocking a time of 25:26.7 to finish 19th in the men's 8K at the Queens City Invite on Sept. 11.
Competing in his first collegiate 8K, Dempsey crossed the line fifth for North Florida as one of six Ospreys inside the top 25 and nine inside the top 50 of the individual standings. The Lakeland, Fla., native posted the top individual finish among ASUN freshmen in the field.
North Florida has posted a top-two team finish in both meets to open the 2026 season after taking first at the Florida Intercollegiate XC Invitational on Sept. 4 and second at the Queens City Invite.
North Florida continues its season at the Georgia Tech XC Invitational on Oct. 2 in Atlanta, Ga.
