@OspreyMSOC Adds Lavelanet, Went to 2016 Signing Class

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Head Coach Derek Marinatos completed his 2016 signing class with the additions of Khalil Lavelanet and Torian Went. The two will join the eight other recruits landed by Marinatos and his staff in early February.
The Ospreys have reloaded both offensively and defensively in the offseason and are looking to build upon the success of 2015. North Florida captured its first ever Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
"These two solid players complete what we feel is a very deep and balanced class," said Marinatos. "We believe this class and could be one of the most talented freshman classes in my five years at North Florida" Â
Khalil Lavelanet – Miramar, Fla. (Nova HS)
Position: F/M
Ht: 5-10
Notes: A four-year varsity starter under Head Coach Ronald Woodstock… An All-County honorable mention as a sophomore after tallying a career-high 12 goals… Totaled 29 goals and 12 assists in his prep career… Played club soccer for Albion Plantation FC and Miramar Elite… While playing for the Miramar Elite, team won Disney Showcase and qualifiers three years in a row… Was the leading scorer at Disney qualifiers… Grandfather, Lucien, played for the Haitian National Team.
Coach's Quote: "Khalil was somebody that we identified over a year ago from South Florida. He possesses great speed is very dynamic in 1 vs. 1 situations and is capable of playing multiple positions. He was a great late addition to the 2016 recruiting class."Â

Torian Went – Bridgetown, Barbados (Harrison College)
Position: M
Ht: 5-9
Notes: A very accomplished international soccer player for his home country, Barbados… Was the Captain of the Barbados U17 National team in 2014 and 2015… Made the Barbados men's national team at age 16 and recorded one cap… Represented the Barbados U23 Men's Olympic team at age 17… Scored two goals and registered six caps as a member of the U17 National team… Captured Secondary School Championships in 2010, 2012 and 2013… Named the Best defender in the U15 Division for 2012 and 2013… Also served as captain of the U14 AC Milan America's team in Italy… Also a gifted student, placing first in the Caribbean Advance Proficiency Examinations.
Coach's Quote: "Torian has one cap for the full Barabados men's national team and at least 3 camps with the full team. He is very technical on the ball and very quick. He has great positional awareness as both a defender and midfielder. He is an excellent student and goes to the top academic high school in Barabados and is a young man of high character consistent with the type of student-athlete we recruit to our program."  Â
