JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Winners of eight of the last 10 games, the North Florida baseball team (24-14) will play a pair of games in the midweek before resuming Atlantic Sun Conference play on April 29 at FGCU. Tuesday night will be $1 beer night at Harmon Stadium with first pitch against UCF scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Series Info
  • Tuesday will be the 19th meeting between North Florida and UCF with the Ospreys holding a 10-8 edge in the all-time series.
  • The Ospreys have taken eight of the 10 matchups against Savannah State. Both losses for the Ospreys have occurred at Tiger Field.
  • UCF edged North Florida in Orlando, 5-4 back on Feb. 24. The difference in the game proved to be a four-run 2nd inning, powered by a three-run homer by Ryan Crile. The Ospreys tied game in the eighth on an RBI double by Nick Karmeris but the Knights scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the inning.
  • Trailing 4-2 after seven innings, the Ospreys erupted for five runs in the bottom of the eighth to defeat the Savannah State, 7-4 on March 23. The Tigers are winless in seven tries at Harmon Stadium.
  • North Florida is seeking its fourth consecutive win and second-straight season sweep of Savannah State.
  • UCF can clinch its first midweek sweep of North Florida since 2009. The Ospreys took both contests in 2015 including a 9-3 win at Jay Bergmann field with the Knights ranked 24th in the country.
     
Out of the Box
  • The Ospreys completed their second weekend sweep of the season taking all three games against Stetson. North Florida never trailed in the series and outscored the Hatters 16-5.
  • North Florida has won nine-straight games at Harmon Stadium. The home win streak is tied for the sixth longest active streak in the nation.
  • Against Florida schools, the Ospreys are 11-5 this season.
  • North Florida jumped 25 spots in the latest RPI rankings and now sit at 76, the highest of any Atlantic Sun team.
  • The Osprey offense is four hits shy of 400 for the season, only 13 other teams nationwide have eclipsed the 400 hit mark this season.
  • Senior Keith Skinner went 6-for-9 with a double and three walks over the weekend. He leads the Ospreys with 16 multiple-hit games and has three in his last four games. He also leads the team in walks with 25, drawing a free pass in each of the last five games.
  • Nick Karmeris put together back-to-back, four-RBI games against USF (4/12/16) and Stetson (4/15). He had five hits in the three games against Stetson.
  • Freshman Chris Berry put the first two runs on the board in each of the final two games against Stetson. He registered his first career triple on Saturday to spark a three-run second-inning rally.
  • Kyle Brooks started his 191st game on Sunday, tied for the most in the school's D-1 era. He is second behind Matt Oxendine (207 games) on the school's all-time list.
  • Junior Patrick Ervin leads the A-Sun with 11 hit by pitches. Six have them have occurred in the nine conference games this season.
On the Mound
  • North Florida's weekend rotation of Bryan Baker, Tyler DuPont and Austin Drury pitched a combined 21 innings, allowed just four runs and struck out 18 batters in three games. The Hatters hit just .176 in the series and all three starters went six or more innings.
  • Reliever Matthew Naylor pitched eclipsed the 100 inning mark for his career recording the final two outs on Sunday's shutout victory. He has pitched in all three Osprey shutouts this season.
  • The quartet of Bryan Baker, Corbin Olmstead, Matthew Naylor and Tyler DuPont each have 11 career wins, the eighth most in the program's D-1 era.
     
In the Field
  • The infield combination of Kyle Brooks and Patrick Ervin rank No. 1 and No. 2 respectively in the A-Sun in assists. Brooks' 115 assists lead the league and Ervin's 112 are 10 more than the next highest A-Sun cohort.
  • Catcher Keith Skinner has thrown out 10 runners attempting to steal, the third most in the A-Sun.
  • The Ospreys have tallied 42 double plays this season, the fifth most in the country and 10 behind national leader, Georgia Tech.
Opponent Information
UCF: The Knights clinched a three-game set against USF with a 6-5 Sunday afternoon victory in Orlando. Junior right-hander Robby Howell was named American Pitcher of the week after taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning in Saturday's 4-0 blanking of USF. At the plate, Ryan Crile leads the team with 45 hits. The junior hit a three-run homer against the Ospreys on Feb. 24.
 
Savannah State: The Tigers return home wounded, after getting swept in a non-conference series at Longwood over the weekend. Savannah State has dropped eight-straight games and have only five non-conference wins this season. Second baseman Jonathan Moore leads the team with a .344 batting average and has scored a team-high 25 runs.
