JACKSONVILLE -- The top-seeded and defending Atlantic Sun Conference tournament champion North Florida basketball team welcome rival FGCU to UNF Arena for a semifinal contest in the 2016 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The game is being carried on ESPN3 and 92.5 FM.

The Ospreys (22-10) scored a program ASun Tournament record 92 points on Tuesday night in topping No. 8-seed USC Upstate, 92-69, in quarterfinal action. North Florida saw three players top the 20-point mark led by 22 points and seven assists from Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, Dallas Moore. Trent Mackey connected on five treys to finish with 20 points, while Chris Davenport also netted 20 to go along with eight rebounds. First-team All-Conference selection, Beau Beech, recorded a double-double finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

FGCU (18-13) defeated Kennesaw State, 74-64, in quarterfinal play at Alico Arena. The No.4-seeded Eagles have won five of their last seven contests and finished the conference regular season in a three-way tie for second at 8-6. FGCU is led by Marc-Eddy Norelia, who ranks among the league leaders in both scoring (17.0 ppg) and rebounding (9.1 rpg). 


The two squads split their regular season meetings with the home team earning the victory. UNF outlasted FGCU in the first meeting on Jan. 30 in Jacksonville, 82-76, before dropping a tough 81-65 decision to the Eagles a week later (Feb. 6) in Ft. Myers. The teams will be meeting for just the second time in Atlantic Sun Tournament play with the Eagles defeating the Ospreys, 73-63, in the 2013 event held in Macon, Ga.

The winner of Thursday's clash advances to Sunday's Atlantic Sun Championship game against the winner of the other semifinal a matchup between No. 6-seed Lipscomb and No. 7-seed Stetson.
