
CCSA Championships Set to Begin Wednesday Night for @OspreySwim

ATHENS, Ga. – The 2015-16 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Championships, the culmination of over five months of grueling hours in the pool for the North Florida Swim Team, is set to begin on Wednesday night at the University of Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium.

The competition commences on Wednesday night with the 200 medley and the 800 freestyle relays. Beginning on Thursday morning through Saturday, preliminaries start at 10:00 a.m. followed by evening finals session at 6:00 p.m.

Last year, the Ospreys totaled 324 points in the CCSA Championships, a more than 100 point improvement over the previous season.

Courtesy of the CCSA, the entire championship will be live streamed online for $4.95 per day or $7.95 for the entire. The entire meet can also be followed for free via LIVE STATS. Â Â

Top 10 Swims: Sophomore Chase Walker nearly broke the school's 50 Freestyle record in November's Florida Tech Invite. She was just .14 seconds off Kimbery Kuehl's school record set in 2011. Freshman Kaleigh Newcomb also vaulted her 100 backstroke into the program's top-10 list with a time of 57.75, the fifth fastest ever.

Stacking Up: The Ospreys have put a total of 34 times into this season's CCSA Top 24.Three different North Florida Swimmers, Kiana Albert, Angel Morrison and Kaleigh Newcomb are listed in the 200 backstroke which is scheduled for Saturday. Other events which multiple North Florida swimmers hold top 24 spots include 200 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, 1,650 Freestyle, and 200-yard Fly.

Senior Send-off: The meet will be the final as an Osprey for Taylor and classmate Janie Kennedy. The two will be acknowledged on Saturday in a short senior recognition ceremony.

Chance for More: Three-time CCSA Swimmer of the Week, Amy Taylor has a chance to put an exclamation point on her mesmerizing 2015-16 season this week. She has already set school records in both the 1000 Freestyle (10:16.43) and the 200 Butterfly (2:03.52). In addition, eight of her times in the dual meet season were among the 10 fastest in school history.Â
