PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The #45-ranked North Florida golf team opened their spring season campaign at the Sea Best Invitational carding rounds of 281-293 to end day one in fourth place of the 15-team field.
The Ospreys finished with a 36-hole total 574 over the par 70, 6,873-yard layout of the TPC Sawgrass Dye's Valley Course. The freshmen duo of Andrew Alligood and Phillip Knowles led the way for UNF posting totals of 141 (69-72) and 142 (70-72) to rank tied for 11th and tied for 16th, respectively.
Sophomore Jordan Batchelor, making his debut on the UNF travel squad, opened with a 69 but shot a 76 in the afternoon for a total of 145, tied for 26th. Senior Taylor Hancock (76-73) and freshman Travis Trace (73-76) concluded the first day tied for 49th with scores of 149. Sophomore Dillon Woods, playing as an individual, is tied for 60th at 150 (76-74).

"We played solid in the morning round with all the young guys carrying the load," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "However, we weren't nearly as solid during the afternoon round. We just need to get some rest and come back out tomorrow focused on playing well."
No. 19 Florida dominated the first day of play firing a two round total of 17-under, 543. No. 21 North Carolina sits in second at 562 followed by Liberty (569), UNF and #42 Texas A&M (575) rounding out the top five squads.

Tournament action concludes with a final round Tuesday. North Florida will be paired alongside the Aggies and Arkansas beginning at 8:45 a.m. on Hole 1.
