
Men's Basketball Adds Talented Trio in Early Signing Period

JACKSONVILLE -- North Florida head men's basketball coach Matthew Driscoll announced the signing of Ryan Burkhardt, Wes Morgan and Brian Coffey, Jr., to national letters-of-intent to play for the Ospreys starting in the 2017-18 season.
The trio of guards provides UNF with replacements for a talented graduating class that includes Dallas Moore, Chris Davenport and Aaron Bodager.
Coffey (6'1, 170 lbs) is a point guard from Snellville, Ga., currently playing his senior prep campaign at Shiloh High School. Prior to this year, Coffey spent his sophomore and junior seasons at Greater Atlanta Christian earning back-to-back All-Region honors. He averaged 16 ppg, 7 apg as a sophomore in leading his squad to the Sweet 16 and 18 ppg, 5 apg during his junior season when GAC reached the Region quarterfinals. As a freshman at the Wesleyan School, Coffey collected All-Region 2nd team distinction after averaging 16 ppg and 5 apg. He is also a member of the Game Elite AAU program.

"Brian Coffey, Jr. is a super quick, heady lead guard that is gifted in both scoring and facilitating an offense. His game has a great deal of skill mixed in with dominating on the ball defensive abilities that creates a nice overall package. Throughout his career, he has continuously elevated his play year after year. That maturity along with his willingness to help others has grown his overall game to the highest heights."
Morgan (6'7, 175 lbs) is a standout shooter for Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, N.C. Rated among the Top 20 by NC Preps (Rival) and a Top 8 Player by the Charlotte Observer, Morgan averaged 16 ppg and 5 rpg during his junior season. The single game (9) and season (79) record holder for three-pointers made at AKHS, Morgan earned 1st-team All-Conference accolades last season. He currently plays for the PSB Select team in AAU.

"Wes Morgan is one of the most specialized and skilled deep shooters in the Class of 2017. He utilizes his size and range to shoot over opponents. In addition, he has really taken personal pride in rebounding at both ends of the floor at a rate that will translate well to the college game. Wes is also constantly using his infectious personality to reach out and give of himself, making him a perfect addition to our core program beliefs."
Burkhardt (6'3, 165 lbs) is a local product hailing from St. Augustine High School. As a junior, he garnered 1st-team All-St. John's County honors after averaging 12.6 ppg and shooting 39 percent from 3-point line. Burkhardt made 78 treys last year and currently is rated as Florida's 11th-best shooting guard by Florida Hoops. He plays for Team Blueprint in AAU competition.Â
