2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America Team
AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Milan Kovacs became the first North Florida men's soccer player to earn Academic All-America Honors from the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It marks the second-straight season the Ospreys have produced an Academic All-American.
Â
Kovacs was listed on the CoSIDA All-America Third Team and was the lone representative from the ASUN Conference. In his three-year Osprey career he was a two-time ASUN Second Team All-Conference selection, a two-time Academic All-Conference honoree and a three-year member of the ASUN Academic Honor Roll.
Â
In his final year as an Osprey he appeared in all 15 games and scored six goals. He was named the Mike Gibbs Tournament MVP after scoring twice against Winthrop. He scored four goals in his first four games of the season. In league play he added goals against Lipscomb and USC Upstate.
Â
For his career he finishes with 30 points (13g, 4a), the fifth most of any Osprey in the D-1 era (2005-present). His 13 goals are tied for the third-most in the D-1 era.
Â
Kovacs joins former teammate Helge Pietschmann as the only two All-Americans in North Florida men's soccer history. Last season Pietschmann was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as an Academic All-American.
